Flash friendly to SEO

posted on 12th July 2008 by Jon

One of the biggest changes in recent years to the way in which we design and layout our websites is just about to hit home. Last week Adobe announced that they have licensed new technology to Google and Yahoo that will allow both Search Engines to index some Flash content. This is a major shake up in the industry as previously you could have one or the other:
i. a great looking site that’s all-singing and all-dancing but ranks poorly in the search engine stakes or
ii. a well optimised website with tons of keyword rich content.
Now, according to Adobe, you can have your cake and eat it.

James Lowery who works for one of our longest standing clients, Search Engine Experts - the Latitude Group - has posted a useful explanation about this development and how this might effect the industry. Take a look here: http://www.latitudegroup.com/weblog/permalink/google_now_crawling_flash/.

This is something we intend to keep a close eye on going forwards to ensure that our clients can get the best of both worlds wherever possible.
