The Big Tweet

posted on 3rd April 2009 by Jon

As a follow up to my last post on Twitter in which the Daily Show’s John Stewart delves into the world of Twitter, spin-off programme - The Colbert Report - has interviewed one of Twitter’s Co-Founders, a fella called Biz Stone. Word has it that “Biz” is currently in talks with both Facebook and Google with regards to a very lucrative buy-out of his company so I was surprised that his response to Colbert’s question “How are you gonna make money from this?” didn’t start with “Sell-out Baby!!”.

I loved Stone’s line describing Twitter as "The messaging system that we didn't know we needed until we had it.” Colbert’s response to this is quite brilliant. Check it out:

Biz also attempts to get a quick hit in at the end of the interview as Colbert tries to take a picture of him and Biz says: “[this is] just like what happened on the Plane in the Hudson” - his reference was to the fact that Twitter was the first media outlet to break the story and show pictures of the plane in the river. Colbert was quick to respond however and in the process put down Biz quite nicely by asking: “Is that what crashed that plane?”.
