Who's afraid of the big bad blog?

posted on 28th June 2006 by Jon

At a networking event the other night I was having a lengthy discussion / argument with the UK Director of Comms for Raytheon (US Defence contractor and maker of many a WMD). She would not accept that her company needed help on social media issues. It wasn’t until after the event that I found out why. Turns out her CEO had been caught out in a big way by our friendly blogosphereans for basically plagiarising presentations he’d been giving to staff. For the full story read this New York Time article.

So, let’s look at the facts: Your CEO is caught with his pants down by a humble blogger. You have no idea how this happened and decide that the best way to deal with this is to bury your head firmly in the sand. Sounds like a great form of defence to me!
