Fishburn Hedges

In 2009, Channel 4 News joined with PR company Fishburn Hedges to host a series of live Twitter debates on the impact that social media will have on government and society.

The events, entitled “You tweet if you want to: the web is for opposition not for governing” looked at how the main parties use social media to get their message to the people and to rally their supporters.

The live debates were hosted by Channel 4 News anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy.  Speakers included David Miliband MP (now Leader of the Opposition), Ed Balls MP (now Shadow Chancellor) and Ben Bradshaw MP, well-known bloggers Iain Dale and Tim Montgomerie and Douglas Carswell MP, Daniel Hannan MEP and Twitter Tsar Kerry McCarthy MP, among others.

As hosts, Fishburn Hedges asked ScoreComms to build a simple mash-up page holding key information for these fringe meetings including details of the panel along with venue info.

The site ran a live feed displaying any Twitter references with #twinge, allowing Twitter users to jump in to the conversation and ask questions directly to the live panel before, during and after each conference.
