Online Campaigns

This is the moment that campaigning changed forever.  When Senator John F. Kennedy went on TV to debate with his opposite number, then Vice President Richard Nixon, campaigning changed from a focus on radio and print to TV. The radio audience thought that Nixon had won the debate, but the largest TV audience in American history thought otherwise. In an election that went down to the wire, it is a well-held fact that this was the moment that swung the campaign in JFK’s favour.

The last two presidential elections have seen the next step in this evolution with the campaigns of Howard Dean in 2004 and more recently Barak Obama drawing massive support both in terms of campaign support and funding via the internet.
